Lukas is a young, competent, and confident coach who possesses significant floorball skills. He has already during the month he has been here shown that he will be a great asset to our teams.
By letting Lukas associate with several of our best coaches, we also hope that we can give him an extra boost in his future coaching career.
We also expect to learn a lot about how to play floorball in the Czech Republic and of course hope that Lukas can give our players some new qualities and insights from the international floorball scene.
We took the opportunity to check the situation with the young coach. How has the initial time been in Lund and what does he expect from the future:
You have spent more than a month in Lund now how has it been, and have you now been able to settle in?
Yes, it has already been more than a month since I moved in Lund, time flies so fast .
But from the very first minute, I have felt more than welcomed here, so I can say it has been a great ride so far.
Also, I already know where to find some important spots in Lund, so I can say I am settled in already.
You are training several different teams and get the opportunity to learn from different coaches during your Lund stay. Is it to diversified or what is you feeling about that?
The coaches here have different personalities, and it works perfectly when they are put together. Everyone has a good expertise in floorball and then their strengths differ.
Someone is a good speaker and can cheer up the team, someone is good in taking care of the relationships within the team, someone always knows what the team needs and so on.
Then this all makes a great mixture together. Moreover, I can say everyone here is so helpful to me and this makes it easier for me to help the teams and the players and to develop myself as a coach.
What in your opinion is the biggest difference between Swedish and Czech floorball?
I think here in Sweden, the players are more focused on finishing and they also have a better technique, especially in shooting.
Generally speaking, it seems to me that Swedish athletes have a better movement intelligence than the Czech ones which helps them in difficult situations.
These characteristics than make the Swedish floorball more intense. On the other hand, I think the Czech players are better in possessing the ball and finding the free ways to open up the opponent team.
Also, for the last couple of years, we have been more focusing on connecting the age categories and making the so-called conceptions which help the players when they go from one age category to the older one and preparing them to play at the senior level once.
(Here we hope to learn a lot – CS)
You are in Lund for law studies through the Erasmus exchange program, how is it to study in Lund and how has the education been so far?
We started in mid-August with a 10-day course of Swedish language. Since the start of September, my courses in the faculty of law are being held.
Compared to Czechia, the education here is more focused on self-study and debates with the teachers. It is a bit different, but I am enjoying it so far.
New country and first time for you to train senior players, how has that been for a change?
A huge change for me! One thing is the different language and maybe also a different mentality of the players, other thing is a different age category.
But as I have already said, everyone is helpful here which makes it easier for me. On the other hand, the rules and the game are everywhere the same,
so I am trying my best to help the team here to improve and achieve the goals.
Will we see a whole bunch of Czech floorball players in Lund in the future now when we have a Czech coach?
It would be great! I mean, for a lot of Czech players, it is a dream to play in Sweden, so if some opportunities appear, I can help with contacting them and I can only recommend them playing in Lund.
Sist men inte minst hur går det med svenska språket?
I am learning a bit of Swedish, so I can try to introduce myself a bit:
Tjena, jag heter Lukáš, jag är 23 år och jag kommer från Tjeckien. Jag pluggar juridik. Jag tycker om innebandy, fotboll, historia och geografi.
Vi hoppas givetvis att Lukas får blodad tand och stannar ytterligare en tid på sin nya studieort.
Varmt Välkommen! 😊
